I went to the Dallas Aquarium about a week ago. It’s a great place to visit if you’ve never been. It has much more than just fish, in fact I think I saw more birds and monkeys than I did fish. What’s great is that it’s all indoors, so you don’t have to get hot and sweaty in the summer sun. They had some sloths there. Very interesting creatures. They almost looked like muppets in the way they moved and looked.

Still playing around with ink and brush work. I enjoy it but I have to remember that it’s not like using a pen.

I’ve been wanting to find a good brush pen, but every time I’ve boughten one they only last a few uses before they fray. It’s been really annoying. This weekend I decided to take a different approach. I went and bought a bottle of India Ink and decided to just use actual brushes. The above Batman picture was my first test. I especially like the idea of playing with washes (and ink to water and making grey). I plan to do more work with this in the future and I’ll let you know how it goes. I’ve never done a comic this way so it will be interesting to see how they look with this kind of ink work.

By the way, while looking for photo references of Tracy Morgan I learned that he likes to pull his shirt up.

I like Clint Eastwood. He is the ultimate man’s man. You want to learn how to be the strong silent type, then just watch any of his films. Of course, one of my favorites is “The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly.” If you’ve never seen it, I recommend it as one of the best spaghetti westerns ever. What’s a spaghetti western? Why it’s a western that was filmed in Italy. I’m glad we’re on the same page now, and if were not…

Went to the Dallas Museum of Art last week and got inspired by the work of Jose Guadalupe Posada. He was a print maker who became famous from his “costumed skeletons” that he used in political satires.  He was very creative and talented. If you are in the Dallas area any time soon you should go check it out. Or just google him, you lazy bums.

Haven’t seen Toy Story 3 yet. I’ve heard good things.
