Sawyer

Sawyer from “Lost” is the archetype that everybody loves. He’s the bad boy with a heart of gold. He may not be the ultimate hero of the story but in the end you still find him more endearing than the actual hero because he actually has some depth. Some other examples of this character type is Han Solo, Wolverine, Batman (verses Superman), and so on. Usually the main hero, like Jack, can be titled the “boy scout.” They always do what’s right and never stray from it. The bad boy, like sawyer, can cross the lines between good and evil but always strays on the side of good more often. It’s easy for them to be bad but for some reason (usually the love of a woman) they use their badness for the greater good. It’s this character that makes the story interesting because you know what the hero will do, but you’re never quite sure what the rebel will do.
